Growing Through May
May arrives with warmth and momentum. For families who have been holding on through a difficult season. Spring is not just a change in weather, it is a reminder that growth is possible and that support makes all the difference.
At Palmer House, we are growing too. Growing our reach. Deepening our programs. Showing up with consistency for the people who need us most.
This month we lean into possibility. Because every family deserves a foundation strong enough to grow from.
Our Promise This Season
  • Expanding our reach to more families
  • Deepening programs that create lasting change
  • Showing up with consistency and care
  • Building foundations for growth
Real Impact — A Step Toward Solid Ground
When One Door Opens
A young woman aging out of foster care reached out to Palmer House with nothing more than a referral slip and a determination to make it. She had no family safety net. She had no established credit. She had a plan and no way to execute it alone.
Through our Safe Sanctuary program, she was connected with transitional housing support, life skills coaching, and a network of community partners who helped her take the next steps.
She signed her first lease. She started her first full-time job. She did not do it alone. That is what we are here for.
Transitional Housing
Safe, stable housing support during critical life transitions
Life Skills Coaching
Practical tools and guidance for independent living
Community Network
Connections to partners who open doors and create opportunity
May Awareness — Mental Health Awareness Month
Healing Begins with Safety and Support
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize that mental wellness is not a luxury. It is a foundation for everything else. For families navigating housing instability, food insecurity, and financial stress, mental health is directly connected to stability.
At Palmer House, we understand that the pressures our community faces do not stop at the front door. Through our Wellness Works program, we work to connect individuals and families with resources that address the whole person, not just the crisis in front of them.
When we address mental health alongside housing and food security, we give families a real chance to thrive, not just survive.
"You cannot build a stable life on an unstable mind. Healing and housing go hand in hand."

Our Wellness Works program integrates mental health resources directly into family support services — because the whole person matters.

Technology Spotlight — NAMI Texas & MentalHealthTx.org
Finding mental health support should never feel out of reach. This month we are highlighting NAMI Texas (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and MentalHealthTx.org as two trusted tools for individuals and families in Fort Bend County seeking mental health resources.
By visiting mentalhealthtx.org or calling the NAMI Helpline at 1-800-950-6264, families can locate:
  • Free and low-cost counseling services
  • Crisis support and intervention resources
  • Support groups for individuals and caregivers
  • Mental health education and advocacy tools

Resource Prompt of the Month: "I live in Fort Bend County, Texas. I am looking for free or low-cost mental health support for myself or a family member. Can you help me use MentalHealthTx.org or find NAMI Texas resources near me and walk me through what to look for?"
Free AI tools like ChatGPT or Google Gemini can help reduce the overwhelm of searching for mental health resources. When used carefully, they can help families find the right support faster and with more confidence.
Vision in Motion — Progress Toward 2026 Goals
Every initiative we pursue in 2026 is rooted in a single belief: that every family in Fort Bend County deserves stability, dignity, and hope.
